Privacy Policy
CleanPrompter is built so that your script never leaves your device. This page explains the small amount of data we do handle, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
CleanPrompter (“we”, “us”) is a free online teleprompter available at cleanprompter.site. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request, email [email protected]. We answer every request ourselves.
2. What we do not collect
- Your scripts. Text you type, paste or format in the teleprompter is held only in the page's memory. It is not uploaded, saved to our servers or kept in browser storage, which is why it is gone after a reload.
- Your voice or transcripts. CleanPrompter itself never records, stores or transmits audio or recognized speech. See section 4 for how the browser handles voice scrolling.
- Accounts. You don't need to sign up, and we don't ask for your name, email or password to use the teleprompter.
- Payment details. CleanPrompter is free and has no checkout.
3. What we collect
Usage analytics (only with your consent)
If you select “Accept all” on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics through Google Firebase. It records page views and the name of the control you use, for example “mirror text clicked” or “speed changed”, together with the page path and standard technical data such as browser type, device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and a random analytics identifier. It never records the text of your script.
If you choose “Essential only”, or make no choice, analytics are not loaded at all.
Feedback you send us
When you use the feedback form, we receive your message, the website address you sent it from and, only if you provide it, your email address so we can reply.
Information stored in your browser
We keep a few small values in your browser's local storage so the site works as you expect. These stay on your device, and you can delete them at any time by clearing site data.

Server and security logs
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes your IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
4. Voice scrolling and your microphone
Auto Scroll follows your voice using the speech recognition built into your browser (the Web Speech API). Your browser asks for microphone permission before it starts, and you can revoke that permission at any time in your browser settings.
Where your browser offers on-device recognition, CleanPrompter asks it to process speech locally, so audio stays on your device. Where it doesn't, for example on Android or when the on-device language pack isn't installed, the browser may send audio, and a few nearby words from your script used as recognition hints, to its own speech service. For Google Chrome that is Google, and it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. That data goes directly from your browser to its provider; it never passes through us.
If you prefer not to use speech recognition at all, the words-per-minute and total-time scroll modes work without a microphone.
5. Cookies and your choices
We use no advertising cookies. The only optional cookies are the Google Analytics cookies described above, and they are set only after you accept them.
To change your decision, clear this site's data in your browser (usually under Settings → Privacy → Site data) and reload the page; the banner will appear again. You can also block analytics with any standard tracker blocker without affecting how the teleprompter works.
6. How we use data and our legal bases

We don't use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions that affect you.
7. Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf and only for the purposes above:
- Google Firebase / Google Analytics: usage analytics, only with consent. Firebase privacy information.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, content delivery and security. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Your browser vendor: speech recognition when on-device processing isn't available (see section 4). This is a relationship between you and your browser, not a provider we choose.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. International transfers
Our providers operate worldwide, so data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Google and Cloudflare protect these transfers with safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
9. How long we keep data
- Scripts: never kept. They are cleared from memory when the page reloads or closes.
- Analytics: kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics, at most 14 months, then deleted automatically. Aggregated reports that identify no one may be kept longer.
- Feedback: kept as long as needed to respond and follow up, and no longer than 24 months.
- Browser storage: stays on your device until you clear it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU/UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. Because we hold so little data, the fastest way to delete analytics data is often to clear your browser's site data; tell us the approximate date of your visit if you want us to remove a feedback message. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
CleanPrompter is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EU and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Keeping scripts in your browser rather than on a server is our main safeguard: data we never receive can't be leaked. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect and who can access it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we add features that change how data is handled, such as saved scripts, we will update this page before they launch and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted on the site.
