Paste or type your script
Click the text area at the top of the page and paste your script, or write it directly. Use the toolbar to set font size (10 to 250 px), line height, alignment, bold, italic, underline and text color. On a phone, tap Edit to open the full-screen script editor.

Choose a scroll mode
Open Scroll mode and pick Auto scroll to follow your voice, Words per minute for a steady speed, or Scroll time to finish the whole script in an exact number of minutes and seconds.

Press Play and read
Press Play (or the Space bar) to start. Pause any time, jump back to the beginning with To start, or skip to the next paragraph with Enter. Press Back to leave reading mode and edit again.
Three ways to scroll your script
Most teleprompter apps only scroll at a fixed speed. CleanPrompter gives you three modes, so the script moves the way you actually speak.
Auto scroll
Voice activated teleprompter
Auto scroll listens through your microphone and moves the script to the words you are saying. Slow down, pause for a breath or ad-lib a sentence, and the text waits for you. It is the most natural option for talking-head videos and live calls.
Words per minute
Fixed speed in WPM
Set a speed from 1 to 1,000 words per minute and the script scrolls at that exact rate. Use the left and right arrow keys to nudge the speed while you read. Good for rehearsed scripts and voice-over.
Scroll time
Finish in an exact time
Enter a total duration, for example 1 minute 30 seconds, and the speed is calculated so the script ends right on time. Useful for ads, timed segments and presentations with a hard limit.

Flip the text horizontally with one click so it reads correctly through the glass of a beam-splitter teleprompter rig.
Eye line and margins
Turn on Layout to drag the left and right text boundaries and move the eye line — the reading marker — close to your camera lens, so your eyes stay near the lens.
Large, readable text
Scale text from 10 px up to 250 px and choose line spacing from 1 to 2, so the script stays readable from across the room or on a small phone screen.
Script formatting
Bold key words, underline cues and color-code speakers or sections. Formatting stays visible while the script scrolls.
Dark and light themes, fullscreen
Read light text on a dark background to cut glare, or switch to a light theme. Fullscreen hides the browser so only your script is on screen.
Keyboard shortcuts

Tips to read a teleprompter script naturally
- Put the text as close to the camera as possible. Move the eye line up toward the lens so viewers do not see your eyes drifting down.
- Keep lines short. Wider margins mean your eyes move less from side to side, which looks more like eye contact.
- Start around 130 to 150 words per minute — a typical conversational pace — then adjust while you rehearse.
- Write the way you talk. Short sentences, contractions and clear paragraph breaks are easier to read aloud than written prose.
- Mark pauses and emphasis with bold or color, and use a new paragraph for each idea so Enter can jump between them.

The free plan includes 500 voice Auto scroll sessions every month. A license removes that monthly limit.
Do I need to download an app or create an account?
No. CleanPrompter runs entirely in your web browser. Open the page, paste your script and press Play — no download, no install and no sign-up.
How does a voice activated teleprompter work?
It listens to you through the microphone and scrolls the script to the words you are saying.
CleanPrompter uses your browser's speech recognition to match what you say against the script. If you pause, it waits; if you speed up, it keeps up. You need to allow microphone access the first time you turn on Auto scroll.
What is a good teleprompter speed?
About 130 to 150 words per minute for most people.
That is close to a natural conversational pace. Go slower for technical or emotional content, faster for energetic short videos, and adjust with the arrow keys while you rehearse.
Can I use a teleprompter on Zoom or Google Meet?
Yes. Open CleanPrompter in a browser window, resize it and place it directly under your webcam, then join the call in another window.
The other participants only see your camera, not the script. Auto scroll works well here because the script follows you when the conversation goes off-script.
Can I use my laptop as a teleprompter?
Yes. Any laptop with a modern browser works. Put the text right below the built-in webcam, narrow the margins with Layout and move the eye line up so your gaze stays close to the lens.
Does the teleprompter work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in mobile browsers such as Safari and Chrome. Tap Edit to write or paste your script, then press Play.
Voice Auto scroll depends on the browser's speech recognition, so it is available in most up-to-date mobile browsers but not all of them.
How do I mirror text for a teleprompter glass?
Click Mirror in the toolbar. The text flips horizontally so it reads correctly after it reflects off the glass of a beam-splitter teleprompter.
Click Mirror again to switch back to normal text.
What is the difference between a teleprompter and an autocue?
There is none. Autocue started as a brand name and became a common word for a teleprompter, especially in the UK.
Both mean a device or app that scrolls a script in front of the speaker so they can read it while looking at the camera or audience.
Is my script uploaded or stored on a server?
No. Your script stays in this browser tab — CleanPrompter does not upload it to its own servers.
When you use voice Auto scroll, audio goes to your browser's speech recognition service. Some browsers process speech on the device, others send it to the browser vendor's service, such as Google or Apple.
